What is bullying?

Bullying is behavior that is intentional, repeated, one-sided and creates an imbalance of power so that the person it is being done to cannot get it to stop.

What does Remington do to address bullying?

Our school prohibits bullying, retaliation against those reporting bullying, and making knowingly false accusations of bullying behavior in accordance with the district bullying policy, which can be found here: Board Policy JICDE

Does Remington take any steps to prevent bullying? 

We prevent bullying by focusing on positive climate and culture through the Renaissance framework, employing PBIS schoolwide, using Restorative Practices - focusing on community building and a process to address harm when it occurs, and implementing Tier 1 lessons in classes to teach students social skills as well as conflict resolution.

What is the school’s process for reporting bullying?

If someone is experiencing bullying, please report immediately to your teacher, a school administrator, or to Safe2Tell https://safe2tell.org/.

How does the school handle reports of bullying?

We investigate reports of bullying through office referral forms, use of student think sheets, interviews of witnesses and impacted individuals, adult-facilitated restorative dialogues, co-created action and/or safety plans for students, and parent communication.
